SUMMIT PROSPECTUS

In response to a sustained strong interest in the educational plight of African American students, a statewide research conference entitled the “African American Education Summit: Meeting of the Minds: Saving Ourselves and Saving Our Students” will be convened at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, February 14, 2008.

The purpose of the African American Education Summit is to stimulate, educate, and inform, parents, teachers, students, administrators, and policy makers of key educational issues affecting African Americans by promoting a dialogue; developing solutions; and, establishing a process to consistently and strategically address the systemic, internal, and external issues that affect the successful education of our youth with the ultimate goal of empowering, enabling, and employing the West Texas African American community to become proactive in Saving Our Selves by Saving Our Students.
